Officers say a woman was on her way to a wells fargo atm yesterday afternoon when she noticed a man pacing with a gun. Abc 7 News Reporter Tiffany Wilson shows us witness video of the tense police standoff. Reporter this cell phone video shows what happened next. Officers quickly circled the suspect and started talking to him. He was not complying at all. Reporter interim police chief jared kirby said the 32yearold man was noncompliant and known to officers. Theyve known him since he was eight years old. Reporter they asked the suspect to drop his gun repeatedly. It captures nearly seven minutes of negotiations that ended when the suspect shot his weapon. You can see the suspect raise his arms and fire. He fired his gun i dont know how many times, but he fired his gun in the direction of officers. Reporter officers then returned fire. They shot the dude. Reporter none of the officers was injured. The suspect was killed. Jimenez is a soldier. He expects gunfire on the front lines, not near his front yard. I didnt expect there to be a shooting. I thought the guy was going to comply, they would arrest him and that was going to be that. It escalated very quickly. Reporter chief kirby says the suspect has criminal past. Officer andrew camaleri lost his Life Christmas eve when a suspected impaired driver hit his car in hayward. Reporter music and memories filled the Christian Life center in stockton where hundreds of Law Enforcement officers, some as far away as colorado and texas came to honor fallen chp officer andrew camaleri, a man who loved his job. Whether it was to help a disabled motorist, issue a citation to a speeding driver, which andrew just enjoyed because he got to drive past. Reporter he died in the line of duty Christmas Eve in hayward when his patrol car was struck by a suspected drunk driver, who was later arrested. A mercedes tboned an accurate at full speed. The acura had a family of four in it including two children. He smashed directly into the other car at full speed. The Fire Department says all six hurt in the crash were taken to the hospital with injuries considered to be nonlifethreatening. Authorities may have first learned about russias attempts to meddle in the 2016 election reportedly because of what a former Trump Campaign adviser told an australian diplomat at this london wine bar in may of 2016. According to the new york times, trump adviser George Papadopoulos boasted to Alexandra Downer that russia had political dirt on hillary clinton. The australians eventually passed that tip on to u. S. Authorities. According to the paper that was reportedly two months later, about the time that hacked dnc emails started appearing on line. Papadopoulos, who recently pled guilty to lying to the fbi, was part of the Trump Campaigns National Security and Foreign Policy team seen here at a meeting with candidate trump. Well, december may be called the season of giving but the Second Harvest food bank is experiencing a dramatic drop in donations, and as a result, it may not be able to run some of its programs in the new year. As abc 7 News Reporter del avega explains how tax laws may have an impact on them. Reporter it may look like these warehouses have plenty of boxes of food. But the ceo is worried how much the food bank will be able to supply in 2018. They set out to raise 16 million this year. With a few left in the year, theyre still 8 million short. We plan to open one pantry in the new year, one at a college, three wellness pantries that serve people who have healthrelated diseases. Those would be at risk of not opening if were not able to raise this critical support in the final few days of the year. In the last ten years, the number of clients served in san mateo and santa clara counties nearly doubled. Half of its budget comes from individual owners and that is dramatically down.
