Fallout for his career. And violent past. An exwife of gunman devin kelley who went on that rampage at a texas church talks about the man she married. He just had a lot of demons or hatred inside of him. What happened the day he put a gun to her head. Hey, good morning, everybody. Paula is off today, but we are so happy to have sara haines on the set with us this morning. Yes, we are. You may remember her from our days as our pop news anchor, now shes a cohost of the view. Good morning. Im so happy to be back with the family. Oh, my gosh. Even ron is happy this morning. I love it. This is like amazing. I believe ron. You might be faking it but i believe ron. I am not faking it i promise. These are buddies right here. Absolutely. We go way back. So before we get to our top stories this morning, though, we want to salute our veterans on this veterans day. And youre looking at a live shot from Arlington National cemetery where theyll lay a wreath at the tomb of the unknowns. Were going to have much more on veterans day coming up on the show this morning, but lets get right to our top story. The recordsetting arctic blast in the midwest and in the northeast. Many of us digging out those winter coats, hats, gloves. Its now feeling 50 degrees colder in some spots and rob is right in the middle of it in central park. Good morning, sara. Great to have you with us. Great to be out here this morning even though you can see my breath. The chill is in the air for sure. These are temperatures more like midjanuary. Meanwhile, the leaves are still on the trees here in central park in new york. And the snow was falling yesterday in chicago. Take a look at this. The First Official snowfall of the season and record low temperatures across chicago, spinouts and slideoffs. It was a bad, bad commute yesterday. Just an inch or less of snow there and enough to do damage and a little more snow coming their way. Look at the advisories across parts of the south. Freeze warnings all the way down to the south, carolina, an abrupt end to the growing season there. And low temperatures, weve seen records broken here in new york and in boston and Atlantic City and see more as the morning goes along and windchills into the teens. So it is brisk to say the least. You can hear the heavy equipment here. Theyre breaking down what was left of the equipment for the new york marathon, certainly a different day today than it was a little over a week ago. Sara, dan, back up to you. Rob, thank you. Sara says you can come back in now. Please. Warm up. Thank you, sara. All right, guys. She is a tough taskmaster. Rob, thank you. We do have late breaking developments this morning out of asia where the president is on his overseas trip. Look at this picture of President Trump shaking hands with russian president Vladimir Putin. Trump says he asked putin about russian meddling in the 2016 election. That putin denied it and that he, trump, believes putin means it when he issues these denials. Abcs chief White House Correspondent jon karl is in da nang, vietnam, covering it all. Jon, good morning. Reporter good morning, sara, and welcome back. The president says he has he had, in fact, two or three very short conversations with putin with whom he says he has a very good relationship. Shortly before arriving in hanoi, vietnam, President Trump told reporters aboard air force one that he, again, pressed Vladimir Putin about russian interference in the election that he won. He said he didnt meddle, trump said. I asked him again. You can only ask him so many times. Every time he sees me he says i didnt do that and i really believe that when he tells me that, he means it. I think hes very insulted by it, which is not a good thing for our country. The latest trump putin encounter took place right after a lunch with the leaders of 21 countries in the asiapacific. Just days ago, the president said he wanted to talk about getting putins help dealing with north korea. But a senior white house official tells abc news the discussion was mostly about syria. The two agreeing to commit to a peaceful solution to the countrys civil war. Vietnam is the fourth country on President Trumps marathon first trip to asia. He arrived talking tough on trade. We are not going to let the United States be taken advantage of anymore. I am always going to put America First the same way that i expect all of you in this room to put your countries first. Reporter while in china the president had nothing but warm words for chinas president. My feeling toward you is an incredibly warm one. As we said, theres great chemistry. Reporter here in vietnam the president announced he would no longer tolerate the kind of trade practices china has long been criticized for. We will confront the destructive practices of forcing businesses to surrender their technology to the state and forcing them into joint ventures in exchange for market access. Reporter for his part putin spoke to reporters after the meeting and said that he complimented trump saying he was, quote, a well brought up person, comfortable at communicating, but he said that relations between the United States and russia are, quote, at a state of crisis. Sara and dan. Jon, thank you. We turn now to the political crisis back here at home. Alabama Senate Candidate roy moore speaking out denying having a sexual encounter with a 14yearold. Abcs Stephanie Ramos is in washington with what moore is saying about that accusation and others. Stephanie, good morning to you. Reporter dan and sara, good morning. A lot of roy moore supporters and moore himself have questioned the timing of the allegations after running a number of campaigns over the years in the state of alabama and no accusations of this nature. But keep in mind, this is moores First Campaign with national exposure, and with that comes a whole lot more scrutiny. Roy moore, the republican Senate Candidate, is sticking to his guns saying allegations that he molested a 14yearold girl when he was a 32yearold assistant District Attorney arent true. These allegations are completely false and misleading. Reporter a report by the Washington Post thursday details allegations that the 70yearold moore tried to have relationships with several women when they were just 14 to 18 years old and he was in his 30s. Leigh corfman is one of those women. Now 53 years old, corfman tells the Washington Post moore took her to his home when she was 14, claiming he took off her shirt and pants and removed his clothes and that he touched her over her bra and underpants, she says, and guided her hand to touch him, as well. In an interview with sean hannity, moore rejects that claim. I dont know ms. Corfman from anybody. I never talked to her, never had any contact with her, allegations of Sexual Misconduct with her are completely false. I believe theyre politically motivated. I believe theyre brought only to stop a very successful campaign, and thats what theyre doing. Reporter over night Moores Campaign blasting out this email to supporters in an effort to raise money saying, we are in the midst of a spiritual battle with those who want to silence our message. But hannity asked moore if he had ever dated underage teens. Moore did not exactly deny it. Not generally, no. If i did, you know, im not going to dispute anything, but i dont remember anything like that. Reporter moore refuses to drop out of the race and some republicans in alabama dont want him to. You know, i just i just dont believe hes guilty. Reporter but some Senate Republicans are more cautious. Im not going to be the judge and jury, but, boy, if those allegations are true, theres no way he should run for or serve in the United States senate. Reporter whether or not moore drops out of the race at this point, his name will still be on the ballot december 12th. Alabama law states a candidate Must Withdraw at least 76 days before an election in order to be replaced on that ballot. Sara, dan. Stephanie, thank you. Joining us now also from washington ace abc news political consultant matthew dowd. Matthew, good morning to you. I like that ace. Yes, you know, i add it in there for people i especially love. Lets start with this roy moore story. We now have some republicans as we saw in stephanies piece rushing to his defense. What do you as a Onetime Republican make of that . Well, i think weve devolved in our politics to a culture where winning is more important than anything else and putting party behind putting party ahead of country and principle seems to be what goes on today just to get the victory, just to get the win in the United States senate so you can pass a tax bill or whatever and the crazy thing about this is here we have republicans embracing somebody accused of pedophilia, but they consider it immoral two people of the same sex that fall in love with each other and marry. Its just bizarre. And, matt, one of the questions for those republicans who are disavowing moore, what options do they have to either remove him from the ballot or just ensure hes never actually seated in the senate . Theres really only three options they have, obviously speak out, but then if theres two people on the ballot and it stays the way it is, the only option they have is support the democrat, doug jones who is there in the race. The other two options are launch a writein campaign with a republican like the incumbent senator strange, launch that campaign, try to get him elected on the ballot or, three, there is some discussion of postponing the election by the republican governor, postponing it till later or earlier next year and figuring out a way out of this mess. Those fundamentally are the only three options. Theres also been some talk about the historical precedent, even if hes elected, they could refuse to seat him but that is very rare. Lets talk, though, about President Trumps comments in asia this morning. That he believes Vladimir Putin means it when he says he didnt meddle in our election. So, is trump essentially saying he trusts putin more than americas intelligence agencies who have firmly and repeatedly asserted that russia did, in fact, meddle . Well, it reminds me Vladimir Putin reminds me of the famous Richard Pryor quote to paraphrase it, which is are you going to believe me or your lying intelligence agencies and i think the problem i think donald trump has is hes hes compromised by all of these discussions that obviously are being investigated about his relationship with russia in the course of this. Donald trump seems to be the guy Walking Around shawshank prison saying everybody is innocent here and he believes Vladimir Putin in the midst of this over nearly every single major Intelligence Agency in the country, but as i say, hes in a conflicted, compromised position as regards russia. Matt, thank you. Weve been talking about those Sexual Misconduct allegations against roy moore but there are many other prominent men being accused. We have news this morning about the Comedian Louis c. K. Who has come out to say that the accusations against him are, in fact, true. Abcs eva pilgrim is here covering the fallout. Eva, good morning to you. Reporter good morning, guys. For many these allegations against Comedian Louis c. K. Came as a shock. He joked about how men mistreated women and even been referred to as a male feminist but now his own behavior in question and this morning, that stunning admission. There is no greater threat to women than men. Were the number one threat. Reporter popular Comedian Louis c. K. At the center of the latest Sexual Misconduct allegations now confirming them in a statement saying, i want to address the stories told to the New York Times by five women. These stories are true. Im the guy that women see and they go, eh. Reporter the bombshell report by the times detailed stories from the women stretching back more than a decade, all saying louis exposed and touched himself in front of them. Chicago comedy duo dana min goodman and julia wolov tell the times they met the comedian at a festival in 2002. At first they thought he was joking, but then he proceeded to take all of his clothes off and get completely naked. The comedian admitting, at the time i said to myself that i did was okay, but what i learned later in life, too late, is that the power i had over these women is that they admired me and i wielded that power irresponsibly. Well, louis c. K. Is probably one of the most popular, well liked comedians. You know, this persons powerful and they could really hurt your career. Reporter louis built a career making crowds laugh about male hypocrisy, making fun of his appearance and sexual hangups. I have really sick, sexual thoughts. No, you have no idea. Reporter now feeling the fallout from these women coming forward, fx cutting all ties, hbo and netflix also dropping him from upcoming projects, the release of his new film i love you, daddy abruptly canceled by the production company. And louis c. K. Saying he is remorseful. Hes tried to learn from what he did. But he also admits he tried to run from it. Now saying he realizes just how many people he hurt with his actions, not just the women but all of the people around him. And his family. Eva, thank you. Really appreciate it. Well, the app is designed its a Group Messaging app so you can use it to create large groups of people that you can communicate with very quickly. You share information, you can share documents, comments, its great. Ive talked to a lot of mom. Me readers who have used it to plan big play dates and parties and social events or for volunteer projects at school, but students are also using them in colleges and in High School Classrooms to communicate about classroom assignments. So you mentioned mom. Me. We should just quickly say thats where you work. So is cheating like this becoming more common in the digital era . Well, you know, cheating has always been a thing. Yes. Yes. When we were growing up, it was called crib sheets, writing messages on your hand, that kind of thing and some people in the camera phone age would take pictures of tests and share it or bring it to class. But now with these apps, its making it easier for kids to cheat and were seeing it now with ohio state and, of course, we are going to see it more and more. So very quickly because we only have a few seconds here, what do we say to our kids to help them stay out of this pitfall . Its hard to believe kids dont know its cheating when theyre sharing answers to tests or assignments with other students. That is cheating, but if they dont know, if you feel your students dont know, you have to explain to them were in a digital age. This is a form of cheating. This is not allowed and universities are going to have to add it to their student handbooks to explain to students that this is not okay. Ericka, thank you. Ericka souter from mom. Me.
