It made landfall in just six weeks and the first to hit louisiana since katrina in 2005. Well have a live report from alabama at the bottom of the hour. Animal shelters from Silicon Valley to wine country are filled with dozens of new pets ready for adoption. Abc 7 news was at the Hayward Executive Airport yesterday as 40 dogs and 25 cats arrived from shelters in new orleans. Most of the animals being transferred are from areas hit by hurricanes. Many of them were displaced into that area from harvey when it hit in texas and irma in florida. And whats happening now is theyve got an influx of more animals coming in so they have to clear adoption space. The Pleasanton Foster group paid for the flights. The new orleans shelters are paying it forward for help during hurricane katrina. Pets from puerto rico are now expected to fill the shelters in new orleans. Today marks one week since last weeks massacre in las vegas. The city is trying to take back their streets with people marching, sending prayers to the victims and calling for unity after the worst mass shooting in american history. He would post elicit images that we would deem pornography of the victim to a social media platform. Reporter according to detectives, neipps relationship lasted three years. Hopefully the judicial system will do what it is supposed to do and due process will be taken care of itself. And authorities canceled an amber alert after locating a missing 2yearold from San Francisco. The little girl is now safe and went missing at 3 00 p. M. Yesterday. Everyone got an alaert on their smartphones last night at 8 00. The officials took two people into custody at 7 00 last night. One of the suspects was the childs father. And to marin county now where a man is looking for those intentionally accused of driving into four cyclists. This happened before noon yesterday on petaloma road. Authorities say a man driving this older model dark blue dodge ram pickup truck appeared to swerve into them. All four men were hurt. One critically. If you see anything, if you have any information, please come to the authorities. Were just all collectively in this for a safe experience. Heres another look at that truck. Investigators say its missing a passengerside mirror, may have a sticker on the driver side rear window and had its license plate inside the front win windshield. It was last seen in marin. Well see northeast winds with gusts up to 55 miles per hour. And with very low humidity and dry air, fires can spread very quickly. There is also a wind advisory that kicks in later on tonight at 7 00. And this is mainly for the north bay and parts of the east bay where we are expecting gusts of about 45 miles per hour, at least that and even higher. So if youre driving especially in an suv or a minivan, there will be some difficulty for the taller vehicles and expect possibly some downed tree branches in those areas. Ill show you the wind forecast animation. So 4 00 this afternoon, well start to see the winds pick up. Also, notice its an offshore flow with winds coming from the north and northeast. And that is allowing temperatures to warm up today and tomorrow. But check it how windy it gets overnight. Well see many areas over 30 miles per hour, especially in the north bay. Pretty windy as well in parts of the east bay. Oakland to 24 miles. And the offshore flow changing the temperatures and keeping us warmer than average. And then tomorrow, well start to die down but still pretty windy. 11 00 is when it expires through the north and east bay for the wind advisory. Whoa reporter from the gulf coast to the northern regions of mississippi and alabama, residents bracing for the worst. We got tornados in these things and you dont know when theyre going to pop up. Reporter a storm surge hitting lowlying coastal regions. And heavy rain. Im meteorologist reed timer. The winds are piling up. Reporter causing massive flooding along the gulf coast. This family stranded in biloxi had to be rescued. Now residents are still waiting for it all to be over. We have our water, were full of gas, our generators are working. Reporter this couple after planning their wedding day for 20 months gets married in mobile. We had pants pulled up and i was holding my dress and we were dancing. Reporter one of the big concerns with nate was storm surge. And here in mobile, it caused flooding in many of the roads downtown, but now it seems like the rain is stopping and this storm is moving on. In mobile, alabama, maggie ruly. Maggie, we have had so many hurricane this is year, but nate is different than the rest. Reporter one of the biggest differences is the strength. Hurricane nate struck land as a category 1, unlike many of the 3, 4 and 5 categories we saw earlier in the month and last month. And the other big difference is the speed that this hurricane is moving. It made landfall here near alabama just a few hours ago and is already practically through the state, already downgraded to a Tropical Storm. Perhaps even a depression by tonight.
