I once was lost there werent many dry eyes last night as Amazing Grace was sung at a vigil in san jose in memory of michelle vo, one of 58 People Killed when hundreds of bullets were fired at unsuspecting concertgoers six days ago. As the investigation continues, authorities still dont know what drove Stephen Paddock to do it. Abc News Reporter brian clark has our story. Reporter investigators are baffled. We have run down more than a thousand leads in this investigation. While some of it has helped create a better profile into the madness of the suspect, we do not still have a clear motive or reason why. A family escaped injury last night after someone fired at their car on westbound 24 and oakland west of 51st street. The chp tells us the incident happened at 7 40. Thats when a vehicle described as a gray sedan pulled alongside and fired one shot, hitting the familys white dodge avenger. No one in the car was hurt. Chp o investigate that shooting. The california Highway Patrol is also investigating reports of shots fired on the bay bridge. Witnesses report a gray car fired several rounds at a black suv at around 7 00 last night. The chp is looking for the drivers of both vehicles. Traffic was never impacted and there are no reported victims. The u. S. Navy helped save a life at San Franciscos pier 30 last night. Sailors rescued a man from the bay near the uss essex just after 8 00 last night. San francisco firefighters also raced to the scene. Paramedics took the man to the hospital. Right now it is at 85 miles an hour as a category 1 continues to track quickly to the northwest at 22 miles an hour. So hurricaneforce winds from about 40 miles from the center. Its going to push into new orleans, take a right hand turn and weaken as it goes up much of the midatlantic coast. Now, as it pushes into the gulf coast today, were expecting the storm surge of anywhere from four to six feet and rainfall will accumulate as well, three to six inches, perhaps ten inches in some spots. This is the forecast for today throughout 11 00 tonight. So you notice that it is not quite at the gulf yet but theyre looking at some impacts already with the gusty winds, the rain, the storm surge, and then much of the midatlantic seaboard here. Developing news out of virginia where two children have been injured in a ferris wheel accident. This is cellphone video from the scene. It shows a brief glimpse of a child being worked on by paramedics, then being slid onto a stretcher. Witnesses say a car on the ferris wheel tipped over, tossing the kids inside onto the ground. They add one of the kids opened up the car door while it was still moving, causing the car to catch onto a support and then turn over. Developing news now in new orleans. The city is in the crosshairs of Hurricane Nate. Heavy rain and a dangerous storm surge could affect the pumping system in the city. Abc News Reporter steve osonsami has the details.
