The las vegas sheriff says there are no other suspects, at least not at this moment. But investigators are determined to find out whether Stephen Paddock had help. Authorities are questioning his girlfriend as they continue looking into the deadliest mass shooting in modern american history. Abc News Reporter lana zak is in las vegas. Good evening, dan, there is a new headline. Authorities believe that the shooter had planned to escape. And we know how interested they were in hearing from his girlfriend. Tonight we hear her own words for the first time. This newly released video shows the harrowing moments following the deadly las vegas shooting. Get in the truck, get in the truck victims being led into a vehicle before it speeds off to the hospital, the clock ticking away. The grim reality on display as we hear from the shooters girlfriend. I am devastated by the deaths and injuries that have occurred. These are the first public words by Marilou Danley read by her attorney. It never occurred to me in any way that he was planning violence. Shen says when Stephen Paddock sent her to the philippines and wired her money, she worried he was breaking up with her. But he had something evil planned. Stephen paddock is man who spent decades acquiring secret weapons and ammo and living a secret life. Paddock checked into multiple hotels with rooms overlooking the concert, and they now believe he planned to escape. Meanwhile, the community, the survivors, and the loved ones of the victims are all trying to heal. There is no ocean that can hold these tear, and there is no space for my broken heart. As the president offered these words of comfort. We stand together to help you carry your pain. Youre not alone. And for the first time were learning the identity of that hero Security Guard who first encountered the gunman. His name jesus campos. Well, tonight in las vegas, residents and tourists are trying to get back to some degree of normal living. Its not easy, of course. The reminders of what happened sunday night are everywhere. Dan, were a little further norton Las Vegas Strip from where that shooting happened. I want to give you a sense of what it feels like tonight. There are plenty of tourists here. As you said, everyone trying to move on best they can there is people walking around. There are a lot of cars out here. But there are also constant reminders of sundays tragedy. Every single marquee in las vegas is lit up with vegas strong messages. The mood is still somber in las vegas, and no one has quite moved on. Messages flash everywhere, even showing a phone number where victims can seek counseling. Certainly not something you usually see on a las vegas billboard. We talked about how much we like the vegas strong and everything. It was great. You dont mind seeing the marquees . No, not at all. I thought it was positive thing. Throughout the day tourists stopped by the memorial to pay their respect, but told us they also want to continue to enjoy their vacations. Make no mistake, the deadliest mass shooting in u. S. History is weighing heavily and permeating through every part of las vegas life. Were constantly reminded of it. But were trying not to focus on the negative. Even stars performing on the Las Vegas Strip like celine dion had this to say. On sunday, we lost too many beautiful, innocent souls. Everywhere you can hear people talking about the shooting, but through it all, tourists continue to snap pictures, nightclubs, and bars are open. It is a tourist town. And tragedy, but we thought the authorities deal with it very quickly. And it didnt seem as though there were any residual terrorists. Mgm resorts which owns mandalay bay announced it has increased its level of security and work, quote, consistently with local and National Law Enforcement agencies to keep procedures at resorts up to date and are always improving and evolving. So what happened back there at mandalay bay and at that festival cannot be ignored. But people are trying to move on as best they can tonight. And the city is certainly moving. I lived here for five years. This was my former home. I know plenty of people here. They are good people. They are resilient. And las vegas certainly will move on. If tonight is any indication, tourists will continue to come. The question is how will Safety Measures at casinos change in the longterm, not just temporarily. We continue to learn more about the life of michelle vo, one of the 58 People Killed while enjoying the route 91 Harvest Country music festival. Michelle was a san jose native living in los angeles. An ohio man Cody Robinson struck up a friendship with michelle at the festival. They were standing together near the stage watching jason aldean perform when the shooting started. He helped get her out and put her in a pickup truck, getting her to the hospital. After cody set out to rescue others, he set out to find michelle at within of the area hospitals. Thats when he found out that she didnt make it. Today he and michelles sister kathy did this interview. To know that she she had you in her last moments. She wasnt alone. You didnt leave her. It gives me a little bit of comfort. Kathy vo says her sister had a bubbly and infectious personality. Well, after the shooting in las vegas, security is on everyones mind, of course, as the bay area gets ready for a big weekend. Two big events are expected to attract thousands of people. And San Francisco police say theyll be ready. Abc 7 News Reporter lilian kim has that story. There is fleet week. And hardly strictly bluegrass. Two big events that always bring in huge crowds. We talk to people who plan to attend the music festival, albeit reluctantly. What are your concerns . Definitely my safety. My parents have been calling me a lot. But definitely just the safety of the city. No doubt sundays horror in las vegas has given people pause about going to places with large crowds. But San Franciscos police chief has a message to those who plan to attend the events. He says there will be a lot more officers than in years past, and they will be visible. Chief William Scott discussed security for this weekend at tonights Police Commission meeting. We are actually stepping up our deployment more. We have our tactical theme will be out and deployed. We have no known threats to our city. But we want people to feel safe. Sfpd is counting on the publics help, reiterating the slogan, if you see something, say something. But while the extra Police Presence will be assuring to many, some are making it a point to put their fears aside. Especially us young kids, its our time to be alive. And i think that backing out of doing something that we would want to do in the world, that means they win. A sentiment that will likely motive others to head out this weekend. In San Francisco, lilian kim, abc 7 news. And a lot of people came to a rock concert in the bay area tonight. Coldplay took the stage at levis stadium in santa clara. It could be the last week night concert there unless a 10 00 p. M. Curfew is changed. So how long did the band play tonight . Did they quit at 10 00 . Janine de la vega is live at levis with the story. Janine . Dan, people are starting to stream out of levis stadium right now. The concert ended about 11 00 p. M. So they broke curfew by about 56 minutes. The city says if that happened, that they would take action. The 49ers president says that he is concerned that concerts wont come again to levis stadium unless what he calls this music ban is resolved. As coldplay fans entered levis stadium, they were ready for a late night. I would expect until like 11 00 or 12 00 probably. I mean, wish forever. City officials refused to extend the week night curfew at the stadium from 10 00 p. M. To 11 00 p. M. The 49ers say levis stadium is the only major venue in california to have such strict regulation. We were here for u2 and they ran over. I know it was a problem. You think its going to happen again . I hope so. I hope so. I want as much coldplay as i could get. The curfew wasnt the only thing being monitored tonight there was a heavy Police Presence. Stadium management knows the mass shooting sunday night at a concert in las vegas is still fresh on peoples minds. Were fully prepared, fully staffed, and we will be ready to keep every concertgoer safe. Coldplay was ten minutes late starting. The band took the stage around 8 55 00 p. M. We came out to a neighborhood to see how loud it was. We can hear the thumping right now, and the allowed allowed ald inslid inside is 105. The reading we got is 71. It gets pretty loud. We close all the door, we still hear it in the home. Its very difficult to sleep, especially for the kids. The city says they will fine them 750 750 to one thousand i curfew is violated. Abc 7 news is on the job. Reporter a sickening smell permeates weekly, sometimes morris, its raw sewage. It certainly doesnt smell like its been treated. Reporter residents snapped these pictures of east bay Regional Park trucks supposedly dumping sewage into pipes at lake chabot Regional Park. Neighbors pinpoint to this as the offending manhole. And the prevailing breeze straight east towards the neighborhood. Witness they were done, the odor would actually linger for an hour in our homes. And we would smell like a portapotty, basically. Many of our parks are in rural areas and still need clean and functioning bathrooms. So we do have sewer discharge services lined up to help make that happen for the greater community. There is a longstanding contract with Castro Valley sanitary district for the sewage disposal. Up until this summer, neighbors say the dump location was farther up the hill. The people up the hill were complaining about the smell. And now the new location stinks to those who are downwind. Weve tried to ask them what they have done to make this change. And nobody really answers the question. As recently as this week showed no odors in the area. Residents are considering legal action to stop the sewage disposal near their homes. In Castro Valley, katie utehs, abc 7 news. Another set back for bart. The new fleet of trains wont be ready until thanksgiving. Earlier they said the trains would roll out in june and then pushed that back to september. The problem is mechanical glitch, plus snafus in the air conditioning apparently. The paperwork alone is massive. Each of the first ten pilot cars requires 3,000 documents. No kidding. A billionaire has finally opened a gate blocking access to Martins Beach in san mateo county, but no one knows for how long. He put up this gate in 2008 on his property, blocking the only path to the popular beach. S could koslan was being threatened with huge fines if he didnt open it up. There is a risk of strong rip currents, sneaker waves. And watch out for the large breaker, especially if youre going to be at the beaches with the nice warmer weather coming up.
