Lets find out about the morning commute. Say hello and good morning to alexis. We have one really tough spot at the moment that is westbound 205 to 580 out of tracy, we believe we are all clear now, we had a disable semi just before you get to north flynn road, that ws loaded on to a tow truck, i believe all lanes are back open. 11 miles an hour, 8 miles an hour, the surface streets look the same. It really does not look any better. A quick check of the bay bridge toll plaza metering lights flipped on at 5 22 this morning, typical backups through the maze as well. New this morning President Trump is once again reacting to the Las Vegas Shooting calling the suspect a demented man. He spoke just a short time ago from the white house as he was departing for Andrews Air Force base. He was a sick man, a demented man, a lot of problems, i guess, and we are looking into him very, very seriously, but were dealing with a very, very sick individual. The president said what happened in vegas was a miracle, crediting police for their quick response. The president will be in las vegas tomorrow. The Las Vegas Shooting left at least 59 people dead and more than 500 injured. Police say a staggering total of 42 guns were found in the suspect shooters hotel room and house, 23 guns were found in Stephen Paddocks mandalay bay room, 19 were discovered at his home. Officials say paddock had a camera mounted in the hotel room apparently to record himself. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation. Stacee has not been heard from since and complicating search efforts, she did not have her cellphone or id on her during the concert. Reporter vinnies brother al drove to las vegas to help with the search yesterday. Members of the Police Officer association went as well. This morning the associations president is flying to nevada who help as well. Today physically and friends are hoping for the best. Live in San Francisco, Tiffany Wilson, abc 7 news. Our very own Jessica Castro is in vegas this morning covering the shooting. She has a lot of ties to vegas, prior to moving to the bay area she lived and worked in las vegas and talked to people who were at that concert. This cellphone video was captured as two bay area men hid underneath the bleachers and watched as people were being dragged to safety. Bring her up with me now. There was a girl laying on the ground and someone is giving her cpr and i thought, well, maybe she is just, you know, drunk and passed out, but then somebody else right next to her was also, you know, bloody. Jordan mitchell an artist performing at the festival says she took shelter underneath the main stage. All of a sudden i realized this girl behind me a bleeding and this guy is holding her saying she got shot in the head. This was a homecoming for mitchell to grew up in las vegas, she was performing on her biggest stage yet since leaving to pursue her career in nashville. On a personal note what i can tell you about my experience living here in las vegas for five years and now living in San Francisco is that the two cities are so similar in the fact that they are cosmopolitan cities, that they are destination cities and its probably part of the reason that the bay area can empathize with what is happening here in las vegas tonight and the sadness that is really palpable. You can really feel it here in vegas and frankly why were here, what happens in vegas affects the bay area and those all around the world. Candlelight vigils were held across las vegas last night to honor the victims. Unlv hosted a vigil and moment of silence honoring those lost. People who knew the 64yearold shooter say there were no red flags. Marci gonzalez is live in las vegas for us. Marcie. Reporter reggie and natasha, Police Believe the killer acted alone and as they work to figure out more about him and why he did this the focus for so many people who are mourning today is solely on all of those lives lost. In prayer and through tears the victims honored overnight. Its okay to mourn those you loved. Reporter 18yearold Afghanistan Navy vet chris roybal, hannah ahlers, a mother of three, a las vegas Police Officer. One of my officers was off duty attending the concert and lost his life. Special Education Teacher sanda casey and the 55 others mercilessly killed at a Country Music festival sunday night. The murderer 64yearold Stephen Paddock breaking the windows of his room on the 32nd floor at the Mandalay Bay Hotel along the named las vegas strip, shooting into the crowd of 22,000 people below before k those nearly two dozen firearms found in the room included according to a source an Assault Rifle modified to fire like an automatic machine gun. 19 more firearms and ammunition also found at his home in mesquite, nevada. Neighbors and his brother dumbfounded. Steve had nothing to do with any political organization, religious organization, no white supremacists, nothing. Police say several pieces of media were found in the hotel room including, a source says, a video camera. Investigators hoping that evidence could offer some insight into the motive for the massacre that left more than 500 people injured. I was carrying whether they were dead or alive as many people as i possibly could. And now the ongoing outpouring of love from this community. People waiting in line for hours to donate blood. Relatives just confirming minutes ago Stacee Etcheber has passed away. Etcheber the wife of a San Francisco Police Officer was last seen amid the chaos of sundays shooting, she did not have her phone or id on her at the time. Her brotherinlaw just posting a message on facebook asking for prayers during this incredibly difficult time and of course were thinking of that family. We were all hoping for a different outcome, people from the bay area have been going to San Francisco to support the family and as you may have heard stacees husband told stacee to run while he was going to stay behind and help some of the people because he is a First Responder. They separated and he hadnt heard from her since and now of course were learning of her passing and we are just so sorry to her family and of course to his family and members of the sf police community. And her two children who go to school in novato. I think this story only gets more and more difficult with the human toll that you see coming out of it from this incredibly despicable act. Of course, there was a search for a motive, why this happened. Stephen paddock is a 64yearold nevada man identified as the shooter. As investigators work to find a motive, he was a multimillionaire, making his money is real estate, he liked to gamble, paddock played video poker at 100 a hand. He led what were told was a private and quiet life, police did not know him. His brother eric lives in florida and he told reporters his brothers actions make no sense to him. He had a couple handguns, i think. He had a safe with a couple hand guns, he might have had one long rifle but he didnt have any automatic weapons that i knew of at any time. If you watch the top left of your scene you can going to see him. This is Surveillance Video from six years ago, he slipped at the cosmopolitan hotel. He sued the hotel for 32,000 this is him behind the scenes and he was getting medical aid. That case was dismissed in 2014. The concert attracted fans from the bay area, three of them were off duty firefighters from the Alameda County fire department. The Department Posted this statement saying the firefighters were near the front of the stage, they were not hurt. They sprang into action to help the wounded. Another bay area residents who attended the concert in vegas are telling us about what they experienced. Kim shubert of petaluma was there and abc 7 news spoke with her on the phone. She says a man near her was shot in the back. I put my body over the guy, just to protect it from any more shooting and then the people that were around him i just kind of laid on them to make sure everybody was okay. Im pretty sure one of the girls got shot and at that point i just i kind of freaked out and i was like, i have to go, we have to go, and called my daughter and just told her i didnt think i was going to make it. Unimaginable stories. There were at least four gunmen because of the shear amount of gunman raining down. The shooter likely acted alone. We caught up with people who were at the festival as they returned home to the bay area. As you can imagine plenty of tearful reunions at the San Jose National airport. Its one thing to talk to them on the phone but when you actually see them arrive its overwhelming. I had fwoos bumps, i was shaking. Families shared harrowing stories about the confusion that took place during the shooting and the way people were being trampl trampled. They also talked about how survivors were corralled in Hotel Conference rooms before given the green light to read. They say it will take some time to process everything thats happened. Allegiance Airlines Says they sheltered 30 people who fled the concert on to the airfield, if youve been in the area you know that the airport goes right up against where mandalay bay s theyre offering free flights to vegas for family members of victims and waiving change fees. President trump is on his way to puerto rico. This is new video him boarding air force one along with first head melania, they took off just about a half hour ago. Amazon Ceo Jeff Bezos tweeted this last night writing amazon plane packed with donation of critical supplies landed earlier today in san juan, thank you to all of the amazonians who made it happen. The lone member of the California Task force three is finally back home in the bay area. Carl and hundreds of other fema workers were originally deployed to the caribbean after hurricane irma. Then he unexpected stayed behind after Hurricane Maria hit. That means he has been gone for a total of 24 consecutive days. California task force 3 is based in menlo park and we welcome him home. We will get a check of your weather now with mike nico. Lets talk about sfo, partly cloudy, 52 degrees, fingers crossed we wont have any delays, i dont think we should, just a few clouds spilling from the coast. I really think sun is going to be the dominant feature even at the coast as breezes relax today, clear and cool lows tonight. In the extended we have a building warm wave. For your highs today lets start with our warmest 83 in antioch and fairfield and santa rosa, followed by concord and napa at 82 and livermore at 81, 78 in san jose, fremont, palo alto, san matteo and oakland 75, richmond 76, San Francisco at about 72. As far as the south bay, look at these temperatures as we look at your hourly planner starting off with about 51, 8 00 this morning, by noon we are 67, we will hang out in the low to mid 70s for the better part of the afternoon hours, down to 65 at 8 00 and eventually 53 in san jose tomorrow morning. Low to mid 50s except for the north bay and inland east bay we will be in the mid to upper 40s. My accuweather sevenday forecast winds relax, temperatures about the same tomorrow and then we see the warming trend thursday, we will flirt with 90s inland, friday, saturday and sunday, mid 80s around the bay and even an 80 around the coast this morning, your warmest day and then your temperatures will taper through the weekend. The breezes have tapered at least in the valleys but not up in the hills above 1,000 feet. Thats why we have that fire danger until 5 00. And that means we will have wind gusts of 35 miles an hour, single digit relative humidity, bone dry air and all of that reg tags that is ripe to burn because its all brown instead of being green. Napa 23 degrees, cooler to places like hayward thats about one degree cooler. We will start down in the south end, look at all those 40s, all that cold air drainage out of the santa cruz mountains, no kwins ens all those areas on the west side of the valley are a little cooler. A memorial near the shooting scene is growing as people leave flowers and candles and mementos. Abc 7 News Reporter Amy Hollyfield is live in las vegas with the emotional tributes that she is seeing to the victims. Amy. Reporter good morning, natasha. Here is the head line here in vegas with just the word unimaginable. What is noticeable is that in the editorial in the paper there is no talk, no call for gun control. Just a call for a time to grieve and come together. There are signs of that right here at the scene of the shooting which is still shut down, this section of the strip, but there are some flowers here, some balloons, some candles. And some of the hotel signs or most of them are lit up with messages about donating blood and how you can get information about victims. Talk is also turning to security, especially at the hotels. The debate on whether the hotels should add metal detectors or whether that would negatively impact hospitality. One man who was working security at the concert told us this morning it might be time for vegas to rethink its security. In the area itself there was plenty of security, but in the hotels, i understand its hard, so many people that go into all these hotels and how can you you know, how can you expect that. So it is going to be difficult to tighten up that security, but its not impossible. We lost amys audio there. Both amy and Jessica Castro are in las vegas and you can watch for their reports throughout the day. Stay with us for continuing coverage of the shooting and the aftermath. I want to show that you there was really quite a moment last night here on abc from jimmy kimmel. He is from las vegas and during his opening monologue he gave this emotional tribute to the people who were there and also you could tell that he was very frustrated with the lack of action that politicians have been making. Theres probably no way to ever know why a human being would do Something Like this to other human beings who are at a concert, having fun and listening to music. As a result of that this morning we have children without parents and fathers without sons, mothers without daughters. We lost kimmel spent ten minutes talking about the shooting and politicians he felt are in the nras pockets. He ended by asking viewers to press congress for more gun control underscoring the point that love and prayers are not enough. New details now on an assault at uc berkeley. Happening tonight sfo will conduct its annual full scale emergency exercise. So all this is fake and as a result you may notice a lot of Emergency Personnel or vehicles between midnight and 2 00 a.
