Navy issued a statement confirming a sailor who was shot died early this morning. He had been in Critical Condition since the shooting. Authorities say the shooting suspect went on a shooting rampage as a shooting recruiting center and then drove to a navy and Marine Reserve center where he shot the victims. He was shot to death by police. 6 301 is our time. A fastmoving fire that erupted yesterday in Southern California is just 5 contained. It started northeast of los angeles. It destroyed 20 vehicles and damaged four structures and prompted mandatory evacuations. Drones temporarily halted air tankers. The planes were grounded 50 minutes out of fear they would collide with the drones. The fire sparking an inferno on the highway. I could feel the heat. Trucks bursting into flames. The brush fire jumped the freeway about 75 miles east of los angeles. Authorities were bracing for injuries, including burns. We have approximately two to three structures involved. Reports of people trapped. The fire consuming at least 3500 acres. The column of smoke miles high and it was so thick it cast a massive shadow. Grinding traffic to a stop. Dozens of cars abandoned. This video shows motorists run to go safety. Some of them right past burning vehicles. We are trying to get out of the cars. I grabbed my kids and just ran up the hill. Everyone was screaming. Cars were on fire. There it is. Helicopters dropping water on the cars and firefighters spraying from the ground. Laying down red lines of flame retardant, hoping to block the fires progress. Authorities issuing an Evacuation Order nearby where multiple homes were said to be threatened. Firefighters are claiming a drone much like this one is slowing their response time. This is the third time this has happened in just the past four weeks. Abc news los angeles. For the first time we are hearing the 911 call from dublin that led to a man in a kidnapping that they said was a hoax. The new details came to light last night on 230 20. They tied the man to the kidnapping of a woman. The connection between this crime and a home innovation two months later in dublin. It was suspicion. There was kerosene. He graduated from Piedmont Hills High School a year ago and had been focused on making music. His parents now want answers. I want to know the truth. I want to know why we were told everyone had a body cam and then the next thing we hear is he didnt, the officer did not. Demings mother said she was threatened at her own home when police served a search warrant after the shooting. I was afraid. And its not often you go through your day and you have a gun pointed at you. Detectives describe a breakin at a classic car garage that turned into a violent fight with an officer and ended with deming getting shot in the stomach and face. The police said the 19yearold seemed unusually strong and didnt respond to multiple laser shots. Toxicology tests for drug use hasnt been released. The District Attorney is still investigating. The attack happened wednesday night in a parking garage in downtown palo alto. Police say the men stuck a screwdriver into the 18 or 19yearold victims leg. The teenager wasnt seriously hurt but investigators are calling it a hate crime. New reports from the dmv said nearly 400,000 undocumented workers are now licensed drivers in california. Back in january when undocumented workers were first allowed to get a drivers license under Assembly Bill 60, the line stretched outside and around the building in san jose. The dmv estimated over the next three years we would have 1. 4 million applicants apply for a drivers license and we werent sure whether they would come in on the first day or if that was spread out over three years. One of mexicos largest volcanoes spewed a large column of ash into the sky early yesterday. This is mexicos National Disaster Prevention Center said it vented 36 times and exploded twice. Authorities hosted a yellow alert and urged people not to get close to the volcano and cover their nose and mouth with a damp cloth in case of an ash fall. The active volcano is just 43 miles outside of mexico city. After almost a oneyear absence, the clock hands on the Golden Gate Bridge toll plaza clock is spinning again. A Kickstarter Campaign to bring a walkin movie threer to to San Franciscos hayes valley neighborhood failed to raise money but theres still some hope. It was designed to feel like a drivein theater but with no cars allowed. The campaign ended thursday with just 82,000 raised. But yesterday they announced a nonprofit. Now if you are familiar with this area in San Bernardino county you notice the 15 freeway is the main route between Southern California and las vegas. But as you can see, a lot of smoke. And flames are still visible throughout the area. The Helicopter Shot zooms in. Containment is only at 5 . We are told that the cause of the fire is still unknown. But we do know that firefighters first responded to a report of a vehicle on fire yesterday. So we will have to wait and see as investigators try to determine what exactly started this fire. They will learn more as the data pours in. Im really looking forward to getting the data in a month or two. Its very tantalizing right now and its already we are able to do science with it. What they have now is merely a preview of whats to come. We currently have on the ground less than one of those 50 gigabytes. But its been enough to insight the publics imagination.
