There was a surprise when deputies arrived. When they entered into the grow there was three suspects. All three ran. We were able to catch one suspect immediately and we began to pursue the other two. Reporter the other two suspects escaped in the direction of Alum Rock Park. It was not crowded but it does host a science summer camp for 33 kids and three supervisors. San jose Police Ordered a bus to take them away quickly. They were concerned about having children in harms way of a police operation. The bus took the kids to the park where parents would pick them up later. They know little of what happened. For the Sheriffs Department frustration in not getting all suspects but a victory in finding the grow. The marijuana growers do carry fire arms and have in the past. The dangers of being close to a park is possible civilians walking and enjoying the park and hiking with kids coming across marijuana growers. Two suspected gang members were sentenced today for the beating death of a union city mother. Hector garcia and salvador got 15 years to life in the kidnapping and murder. She died from Blunt Force Head Trauma before her body was dumped and set on fire. The two men pleaded no contest in may to Second Degree murder. Police are looking for two men who robbed a couple at gun point. It happened wednesday night as the couple was walking with their grand child. Police say one man pointed a gun at the couple and demanded gold and one ripped a necklace from the womans neck. The men escaped in a silver bmw. A Hedge Fund Group is taking over three hospitals. Agreed to purchase daughters of Charity Health system which operates Oconnor Hospital in san jose and st. Louis hospital. The hospitals threatened to close if they could not find a new investor. The previous buyer backed out. Blue mountain will invest 250 million in these nonprofit hospitals. I cannot in good faith let this hospital just close. So this is the solution we are presented with. And this is the solution that i support. The hospitals will be managed by Integrity Health care which is owned by blue mountain. The hedgefund group has the option to buy the hospitals in three years. More than half of all drivers licenses issued to people who are in the country illegally. Long lines at the dmv as the new law took effect giving immigrants the chance to apply for a legal drivers license. Today the department of Motor Vehicles said about 390,000 licenses issued because of that law. An effort launched in the east bay to protect nesting cliff swallows, about two dozen small birds. These are the swallow nests underneath the roof of this bathroom. There are about 20 of them but sadly someone destroyed a few of the nests. You can see some of them on the ground. The city and the Golden Gate Audubon Society are trying to get the word out that tampering with the habitat is against federal law. Cliff swallows have been living in the east bay hills for thousands of years. They come here every year during spring and summer to mate and feed their baby birds. The swallow birds need access to water and mud to build homes pellet by pellet. The Audubon Society explains why the birds chose to build homes at this public bathroom. They would be on a rocky cliff side but because we have done a lot of development they are using the next best thing which is a concrete structure with wonderful hanging eave. They are able to take advantage of that. Reporter they are not considered endangered by the Audubon Society says they are concerned the Climate Change is effecting the guys. The Attorney Says he is eager for closing arguments in the case that has the potential to set major legal precedence over who has right to embryos. Reporter dr. Lee says she signed paperwork in order to do fertility treatment before cancer treatment. The question is that paperwork, is it legally binding and the final word in the fate of the embryoes created. In 2010 dr. Lee and her thenhusband signed paperwork to create embryos at ucsf. Her attorney i think the documents were rushed because they are consent forms. People dont spend a lot of time when they review. People spend a lot of time when they sign contracts. Reporter fresh from cancer diagnosis she testified she signed the documents without much thought but the stipulation in the agreement says the five embryos they created are to be destroyed in the case of divorce. Something attorneys say they want honored. Neither would comment outside of court today but lees Attorney Says the case boils down to the definition of the document. So your position is its not a contract . Thats exactly right. Its a medical consent form and contains directives of how things should be done. They can be revoked or changed.
