The train was on an elevated track way putting them at peril of falling as well as coming in contact with the 1,000 volt third rail. They were coaxed to climb back in. Bart has identified a possible reason for the incident. The current jumped and created an arc. Reporter the fatal accident has devastated him and his large extended family. His mother was killed. His aunt is still hospitalized with a fractured spine. She is going to need a lot of recuperation. We believe that she may be crippled for the rest of her life. Reporter a close family friend was severely injured all hit by a car june 19 as they crossed the street with two young children. The driver of the car is emotionally traumatized. Police have no charges pending. All tests have come back negative. No dui nothing in blood stream no history. This is the only logical explanation explanation. Reporter this is what the familys attorney is referring to. The front tunnel carpet cover trim panel. It extends with such limited clearance of the accelerator pedal that drivers had their feet caught trying to remove them off the accelerator. And they are not able to get their foot off the accelerator in time to press the brake pedal.
