Keren Rowland was five months pregnant and dearly looking forward to being a mother when she went missing on the evening of February 26, 1971.
Nearly three months later the 20-year-old's body was found discarded in a pine plantation, covered with pine needles, close to the Air Disaster Memorial in Canberra on 13 May.
Police believe Keren was dragged to her final resting place as her possessions were located in a "relatively straight line" from a track towards her body. Her arms were still above her head when her body was found.
While an official cause of death has not been established, fractures to Keren's hyoid bone are consistent with strangulation, ACT Police said.
