County clerk offices across Kentucky are unable to transfer an auto title or register a car in their offices due to a system outage of the state's 40-year-old computer system.
Kenton County Clerk Gabrielle Summe said in a release that automobile departments in the Covington and Independence offices are down for an undetermined amount of time.
There is no estimated time or date when the issue, which started July 6, will be fixed, Summe said in a release.
She apologized for the inconvenience. People with out-of-state cars can still get their sheriff's office inspection done.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Automated Vehicle Information System (AVIS) system cannot process transactions including vehicle registrations, transfers and vehicle title services, according to a KYTC release.
