Kansas communities address racial, ethnic gaps in COVID-19 vaccine distribution

There is no shortage of opportunities to get a COVID-19 vaccine in Wichita, with health officials in Sedgwick County setting up a series of mass vaccination sites, with events at public libraries, the county extension office and even the city's downtown basketball arena.
"When I'm talking to the nurses ... they'll say 'Maggie, no, we only saw three or four Black folks today,'" Thompson said. "One lady said 'I've probably given a hundred shots and I had one Black man.' And that's when I thought 'We need to do something about this.' What is it going to take?"
