The longhouses are under a movement control order, with different dates applying for each longhouse.
The 12 longhouses are Rumah Benjamin, Rumah Jelani, Rumah Tibu, Rumah Maria Bukong, Rumah Roma, Rumah Anthony Ikus, Rumah Dim, Rumah Engkulau, Rumah Katerina, Rumah Manggie, Rumah Samsudin, and Rumah Lee Kok Sing.
Kanowit district police chief Dep Supt Tega Bilong on Thursday (Jan 21) advised the people not to panic even though there had been a spike in cases as these longhouses are locked down.
Each longhouse is guarded by two Rela members while police carry out regular patrols of the 12 longhouses.
"We want community leaders and heads of Village Development Committees to help monitor their respective longhouses as well. This is to ensure that no residents will try to sneak out undetected," he said.
