Kamala Harris to mark multiple historical firsts when inaugurated as vice president

On Wednesday, history will be made when Kamala Harris becomes the first female vice president and the first vice president of color.
Two years ago, Harris announced her run for president, visiting an overflowing South Church in Portsmouth in February 2019.
Former State Rep. Hon. Jackie Weatherspoon from the New Hampshire Democratic Party African American Caucus, who has worked with the UN on electoral systems around the globe, sent an invitation to then-Sen. Harris.
“So, I am one of the early endorsers of her and I am so proud, so proud,” Weatherspoon said. “About 15 of us from the New Hampshire Democratic Party African American Caucus, she came, we had the round table and she was fantastic.”
