Several of the unqualified senior managers who are employed to the state-owned Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) have reportedly taken steps towards getting the necessary qualifications.
The managers were ordered by the board of the bus company to commence enrolment in a programme in the area of their work/specialisation at a recognised tertiary institution no later than September 2020, a deadline which was later extended.
When contacted this week, Corporate Communications Manager at the JUTC, Cecil Thoms, said “several managers are now enrolled in a programme to acquire the relevant qualifications… for their positions.”
When pressed for clarity, Thoms did not offer more, citing that it is a “sensitive issue”.
