The BMA Junior Doctors’ Committee and the UK government have agreed to consider mediation, a step that could ultimately end strike action by doctors in training in England.

On 15 May the government announced that both parties had agreed on a preferred mediator and would begin the process of engaging with it. The Junior Doctors Committee co-chairs, Robert Laurenson and Vivek Trivedi, said, “We have been in dispute for more than a year with the government over declining junior doctor pay, exploring various avenues to try to resolve it.
