Juneteenth 2023: What to do, where to celebrate in NYC

For the second year since Juneteenth was made a federal holiday, New York City offers an exciting lineup of weekend events to commemorate June 19, 1865, the day the U.S. Army brought the news of freedom to enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas — more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.
