Road & Track editorial director Joe Brown was a car kid before he ever left the U.S., but, when he was 14 years old, he found himself attending a Japanese high school. The experience forever changed the way he related to automobiles. In America, car ownership is expected; in Japan in the Nineties, it was a rarified privilege to be able to drive, let alone call a car your own. As a journalist who has covered cars for most of the past two decades, he's witnessed that reverence for all things automotive every time he's been back as an adult.
