Jonathan and Page Brody: Road repairs would help Williams Street blossom

Reading recent articles and columns about plans by the Northampton Department of Public Works to resurface and revamp Warfield Street inspired my family to take the trip down this out-of-the-way little side street. And, wow, their cherry trees are gorgeous!
Given this beauty and the low population and traffic on the street, it is really a wonder why this roadway needs such significant work. This is not to mention that some Warfield residents seem content with the way things are and/or desire only minor improvements
On the other hand, our street, Williams Street, is a much larger, densely populated and heavily trafficked street in significant need of repairs and rehab. Over the years, our street and neighborhood have had to bear existing and increasing municipal load. This includes the building of Live 155, the Lumber Yard, numerous other housing developments, the railroad station, commercial building, at least four cannabis dispensaries, three schools, residential programs, day cares, the highway, fairgrounds, meadows and the water treatment plant.
