One of Parliamentâs first priorities when it resumes this year will be to select a new president of the NSW upper house after John Ajaka revealed his decision to quit politics.
Mr Ajaka, 65, president of the Legislative Council since 2017, informed the Premier this week of his planned resignation, which is expected to take effect in April.

He joined the upper house in 2007 and is a former Liberal minister in portfolios including ageing, disability services, multiculturalism and the Illawarra. A spokesman for Mr Ajaka confirmed his intention to resign.
