Joe West, an ump you love to hate, to set MLB umpiring record with 5,376th game
Joe West, who has been in the middle of his share of controversy since 1976, will break the record set by Bill Klem set from 1905-41 with Tuesday's Cardinals-White Sox game.

Umpire Joe West, left, says he thanked David Ortiz during the slugger’s rookie season for replacing him as the “ugliest man in the game.” In his final game with West behind the plate, Ortiz congratulated West on once again becoming the “ugliest man” in baseball. West is scheduled to umpire his 5,376th game Tuesday.
