Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. (JJCI) is voluntarily recalling all lots of five Neutrogena and Aveeno aerosol sunscreen product lines as internal testing identified low levels of benzene in some samples of the products.
This move follows recent suits filed against the Neutrogena brand, as well as a third party study released finding benzene in Neutrogena and other sunscreen brands. Valisure, LLC, also petitioned the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to take action.
In a statement issued to the public by JJCI, the company advises consumers to stop using the affected products and follow the instructions set forth below. The only sunscreen products impacted are aerosols, specifically:
