OCEAN CITY - When three jet-ski riders became stranded in a marshy area here Wednesday, the outlook wasn't good.
The sun was setting, the tide had just gone out, and thunderstorms were a threat when the riders were reported to be stuck around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, according to New Jersey State Police.
"The mother of one of the jet-skiers reported they were in a location where they could not make it back to shore because of the mud and marsh," said a police account.
Troopers dispatched from the Marine Services Bureau knew that, without a quick rescue, the riders "could be at risk for hypothermia and be stranded overnight,' the account continued.
