Grays Chapel, NC — In an imperfect year, Jesse Carson's Cougars found perfection.
On Saturday evening, Jesse Carson defeated Asheboro 51-40 in the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3A girls basketball championship game, hosted by Providence Grove High.
It's the first girls basketball championship in Carson's program history — Brooke Stouder has been at the helm since the school opened back in 2006 and won 200-plus-games since then.
"I thought we came out an had a really solid third quarter," said Stouder in the postgame presser with various media members. "Our girls played so hard. I think just [they] believed the whole way and I'm just extremely proud of them."
