History buffs, philanthropists, store sales and government grants have helped preserve an historic village complex, but a bigger savior has come to its rescue since the COVID-19 pandemic — craft beer.
Cold Spring Brewery, part of the historic Cold Spring Village of 27 shops, craft demonstrations and Colonial America programs has generated enough income from beer sales to keep its nonprofit village afloat since both reopened last summer after a state-mandated, coronavirus-related spring closure of nonessential businesses.
“The brewery has kept the village alive, “ Cold Spring Village Foundation Executive Director Annie Salvatore said of the state's first nonprofit brewery, which was established to support the village.
