A Jersey doctor is launching an appeal to raise the funds for equipment to help reduce waiting times for children in need of a heart transplant.Surgeon Neil MacLachlan is raising money to develop a specialist box which will keep hearts for transplant viable for longer, and thus increasing the number of operations that can take place.He says the technology is vital, as data shows waiting times have increased by almost 500% in the last 15 years.

It was difficult enough before the Covid crisis and in Britain there's usually around 30-40 children needing a heart transplant, some of those are very urgent others are less urgent but nevertheless very much required.
