DAYTONA BEACH SHORES — When Jeff Brower takes office next month, beach driving advocates will have one of their own in the top seat on the Volusia County Council.
Brower said he wants to not only restore beach driving to areas where it is prohibited today, but also prevent the loss of any other stretches of sand.
"It's been a horrible economic mistake, so yes, that is one of my priorities. I will bring it before the council," Brower said in an interview last week.
Brower made an appearance Saturday at a fundraiser at Crabby Joe's hosted by Sons of the Beach, a nonprofit whose leaders supported Brower during his campaign against current Councilwoman Deb Denys. Recently reelected councilmember Heather Post and member-elect Danny Robbins also attended the event.
