Jacksonville man arrested in connection with Sunday homicide there

A Jacksonville man was arrested Tuesday afternoon by Jacksonville police in connection with Sunday's homicide.
Joshua E. Wilson 37, of Jacksonville was arrested around 1 p.m. A former Jacksonville man, Malcolm V. Fitts of Chicago, was shot and killed just before 5:30 a.m. Sunday.
Wilson is in custody at the Morgan County Detention Facility pending formal charges.
Jacksonville police received multiple 911 calls for shots fired for the 800 block of Hoagland Boulevard Sunday morning.
While officers were searching the area, a gunshot victim, later identified as Fitts, arrived at Passavant Area Hospital.
It was the city's first homicide of 2021.
The Jacksonville Police Department is handling the investigation in cooperation with the Morgan County State’s Attorney’s Office, Morgan County Coroner’s Office and Illinois State Police.
