“We intentionally decided that, who’s the record buying public? A kid that’s still living at home with his parents that’s 18 years old. And so we decided we were going to write a song about being 18. And we could all relate, because we all became friends in high school. We were teenagers, we all came from the same state with the same experiences. So it made that easy.”
