(WBNG) -- This week is Severe Weather Awareness Week in New York according to the National Weather Service. Each day this week will have a different theme revolving around severe weather.
On average, the National Weather Service in Binghamton issues 141 Severe Thunderstorm Warnings each year long with 8 tornado warnings.
David Nicosia, the Warning Coordinator Meteorologist in Binghamton hopes that the public will use the public to use this time to reintroduce and prepare themselves for the new weather hazards that the region will experience in the spring and summer months such as severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, and floods.
