Algoma University president and vice-chancellor Asima Vezina is this year’s Athena Award recipient.
The annual award is presented to a deserving individual recognizing professional excellence, community service and for actively assisting women in their attainment of professional excellence and leadership skills.

‘Visionary’ Vezina honoured with Athena Award Back to video
The recipient was announced at Monday’s virtual event, which replaced a traditional breakfast gathering of business women.
Vezina has been described as an engaging and encouraging women, not hesitant to praise others for their good work and achievements. She leads with integrity and honesty and has the ability to communicate and make others feel included and valued.
