On Jan. 5, Kaua’i started a “resort bubble” program for out-of-state travelers who want to avoid the state’s mandated 10-day quarantine. In the two months since the start of the program, the data shows most of the reported cases of COVID-19 in Kaua’i is travel associated.
In the “resort bubble” program, travelers who are flying straight to the island of Kaua’i can take a pre-travel test within 72 hours of their last leg of travel. After the traveler arrives on the island they must remain in a “resort bubble” for 72 hours, take a second test, and if they test negative, they no longer need to quarantine.
