What exactly is a speed map?
Wayne Hawkes‘ all-out attack on speed maps on RSN’s Wayne’s World yesterday revealed his frustration of the over-emphasis on them in the reading of races and in some cases also the policing of them.
Jockeys, owners, trainers, punters all refer to them and many use them to plot their day at the races.
Sydney stewards have used them as a template, often hauling in and penalising jockeys who ride to a different script or different circumstances.
