Despite delays from the COVID-19 pandemic, Hard Rock Casino officials say they still envision a hotel being constructed on their property – eventually.
Casino president George Goldhoff told The Enquirer in 2020 the Hard Rock might build a hotel with a "few hundred" rooms to boost its business.
Goldoff added a hotel would be desirable addition because it would expand his property's geographic appeal – gamblers from further away would feel comfortable visiting and staying longer, knowing they could stay overnight just a few steps away in a four-star star quality hotel that was "unique to the market."
Casino officials say their plans haven't changed – but any hotel is at least two to three years away. The project was always envisioned as part of a "phase 2" of the Hard Rock takeover.
