IPC replacement: Rajya Sabha chairman Dhankar refers 3 bills to replace IPC, CrPC, Evidence Act to Standing Committee on Home Affairs

The Rajya Sabha Chairman has referred the three new bills introduced in the Lok Sabha on August 11, which aim at replacing British-era criminal laws, to the Standing Committee on Home Affairs for examination and report within three months. The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023; the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023; and the Bharatiya Sakshya Bill, 2023 replace IPC 1860, CrPC 1973, and the Indian Evidence Act, 1872, respectively.
