Some of us can't sleep at night worrying about a loved one who has COVID-19, or others who are vulnerable to it. Or ourselves. We might be jolted awake from panic dreams of having to live permanently as hermits, separated from friends and family, barred from shops, concerts, restaurants, sports events, travel or my personal favorite: dinner parties. A few of us have fantasized inappropriately about slipping undetected onto a line in a climate-friendly state to stick out an arm for the coveted vaccine needle.
