BRAINTREE – A group called the Petersen Pool Advocates has asked the state Attorney General's Office to investigate the money that has been spent so far on the construction of an athletic complex on the Braintree High School campus and a splash pad at Watson Park.
The Petersen Pool Advocates says $1 million was improperly spent on plans and permits for the proposed sports complex, which includes the pool, two ice rinks and an indoor synthetic turf field.
Daryl Every, a lawyer and a member of the group, said Petersen's will said the money could only be spent on the construction of a pool, and only after plans were drawn, permits obtained and financing was in place.
