Interim budget: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced plans to establish facilities for the coal gasification and liquefaction of 100 metric tonnes by the year 2030. In January, the government sanctioned a financial assistance outlay of Rs 8,500 crore to support the development of coal and lignite gasification projects.
