McCraken said many of the theatres they worked with, including Court Theatre, made effort to raise awareness and invited schools to the production, which they were grateful for.
The duo said they focused less on “the negative consequences of getting these things wrong” and instead on the “good stuff” around sex and relationships, while addressing consent.
Rangi Ruru Girls’ School’s health teacher Leigh Allan went to the show with the school’s Year 11, 12, and 13 students. It related to their health curriculum, but learning about the topic through drama involved emotion, which was difficult to get in a classroom, she said.
