Instagram introduces child protection feature for social media app
Giant social media platform Instagram has announced several new features being introduced to the app to protect its youngest users.
The measures include limiting access to the accounts of children for adult account owners deemed suspicious by Instagram, defaulting new young users to private not public accounts, and limiting the ways by which advertisers can target people under 18.
Josh Machin, head of policy for Facebook Australia, told 9News: "We want young people to enjoy using Instagram while making sure we have robust privacy and safety features in place to protect them.
