The Doxology or Gloria Patri is a song I've sung more times than I can count. We Presbyterians, like many other Christian religions, use it as part of weekly church services.
The only difference is we sing it at least 3 pews back from the front row. Real Presbyterians don't sit in the first two rows of the church unless we are anticipating being called to the pulpit to read scripture, do the announcements, or we arrive late and have no choice but to embarrassedly scoot to the front.
After Presbyterian wives tactically rip out the check blank containing the weekly offering, toss it the larger than necessary collection plate as it goes by, the congregation stands and sings the Doxology ... “Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen....Amen!
