Inmate remains in critical condition after being beaten by another inmate in county jail

PASCAGOULA, Mississippi -- An Ocean Springs man jailed on a DUI charge was airlifted to a Mobile hospital after a fight with a career criminal in the Jackson County Adult Detention Center.
Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell said the fight took place in one of the jail dayrooms on Monday. Corrections officers responding to the situation found 47-year-old Donald Ratcliff of Ocean Springs unconscious.
Medical personnel at the ADC treated Ratcliff before he was transported to Singing River Hospital and subsequently to University of South Alabama Medical Center, where he was still in critical condition as of Thursday.
