The Indonesian government on Sunday commended the officers and personnel of Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi for the rescue of four of their nationals who had been held captive by the Abu Sayyaf Group.
In a statement, the Western Mindanao Command said Indonesian Consul General Dicky Fabrian personally awarded the certificate of commendation to JTF Tawi-Tawi Commander Brigadier General Arturo Rojas.
Fabrian said the "invaluable contribution of the Marines exemplifies their dedication and commitment to the mutual interest of the two countries.
"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you all. Let us continue to intensify our good relations for the common good.”
