The Cleveland Indians confirmed Monday that right fielder Josh Naylor sustained a closed fracture and dislocation of his right ankle during a collision with a teammate in Minneapolis on Sunday.
Naylor, 24, returned to Cleveland on Monday to be evaluated by foot/ankle specialist Dr. Mark Berkowitz to determine the extent of the injury. He was placed on the 10-day injured list prior to the Indians' Monday game against the visiting Detroit Tigers and will undergo surgery in the near future.
He was injured in the fourth inning an 8-2 loss to the Minnesota Twins. Naylor collided with second baseman Ernie Clement in shallow right field while both players were trying to catch a ball hit by Jorge Polanco.
