Last night, the Indiana County Republican Committee approved a resolution to censure both of Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senators over their votes to convict former President Donald Trump in his second impeachment trial.
Republican Pat Toomey and Democrat Bob Casey, Jr. both voted to convict Trump in connection with the riots at the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6
th. Randy Degenkolb, serving in his first meeting of the committee as their chairman, said the vote concerned a few issues with the constitutionality of the hearing.
Last night’s vote came after the state Republican Committee tried to hold a similar vote on Wednesday night, but was unable to get a definitive vote as the group had technical difficulties with the virtual meeting. Toomey was also present during Wednesday night’s lengthy meeting to defend his vote.
