All claims up to March 24 will be eligible for coverage. It remains unclear whether insurance cover will be provided for fatalities between the expiration of the old policy and until new policy is announced

Amid a record rise in Covid-19 cases and stretched healthcare infrastructure across several states, a crucial safety net for frontline healthcare workers against Covid, provided by the government last year has expired.
The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP) insurance scheme for health workers battling Covid-19, which was implemented on March 3, 2020, to provide a safety net to the health workers fighting COVID-19, has lapsed. The government, however, says that a new dispensation for the same is in the works.
