India must ensure basic infra to woo chip makers: NXP

“Establishment of Semiconductor Wafer Fabrication (fab) units in India has long been challenging, even though India has done well in terms of chip design and manufacturing of electronics. This is due to several factors, but not just the country’s shortage of resources,” Dutch chipmaker NXP Semiconductors India head Sanjay Gupta said.

Dutch chipmaker NXP Semiconductors India head Sanjay Gupta said India needs to ensure availability of basic infrastructure such as lots of pure water and undisturbed electricity supplies for semiconductor manufacturing, which involves billions of dollars in investments.
