Bengaluru, India (AFP) Aug 23, 2023 - India celebrated a historic achievement on Wednesday, becoming the first nation to successfully land a spacecraft on the Moon's south pole, merely days after a Russian probe met a fateful end in the same region. Chandrayaan-3, translating to Mooncraft in Sanskrit, touched down on the scarcely-explored lunar south pole at 6:00 pm India time (1230 GMT).
