Imlay City seeking new police chief, mulls over department’s future

IMLAY CITY, MI -- Imlay City is considering the county sheriff as a possible replacement for the city’s retiring police chief.
After nearly 40 years in law enforcement, Imlay City Police Chief Scott Pike announced plans to retire last month.
His last day is April 30 and the city is working to appoint an interim chief, Mayor Joi Kempf told MLive-The Flint Journal.
For the department long-term, a committee is discussing multiple options moving forward, including having the police department managed by the sheriff, the mayor said.
