(CHICAGO) The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported 401 new confirmed COVID-19 cases from Tuesday, with only 8 additional deaths reported yesterday. That bring the state’s new death toll due to the coronavirus up to 22,835. In the latest vaccination report for Illinois, more than 67 percent of all Illinois adults have received at least one vaccine dose. Nearly 51 percent are now fully vaccinated. (SPRINGFIELD) As the 2021 spring legislative session ended early Tuesday, Governor Pritzker commends lawmakers on passing a historic and fiscally responsible state budget that pays down debt, closes loopholes for wealthy corporations, and invests in rebuilding the state’s economy. The balanced $42.3 billion budget includes $350 million in new money for K-12 education, an additional $28.2 million for MAP grants for need based collegeg financial aid, and an additional $170 million in investment funds to serve those with developmental disabilities. Additional funds will also go for pandemic and economic recovery in Illinois.
